Welcome Letter

A welcome letter is an email message that a user receives after their first contact with a company, such as registering on a website or subscribing to a mailing list. The welcome letter plays a very important role, because all future communication with the client may depend on it. With its help, the company can tell about itself and interest the client for further cooperation.

The welcome letter is one of the types of trigger letters, so its sending is automatic. In order to create a greeting letter, a company should develop a template that will be used for further mailing. There can be several templates for different situations. They will automatically include information about the user in order to personalize the letter. It is important to think carefully about the content of the welcome letter so that a good impression of the company can be made at once. To write a quality welcome letter you need to:

  • if possible, personalize the letter so that the text addresses the company to a specific subscriber;
  • give a short introduction to the company and its activities;
  • thank the client for registering/subscribing/selecting the company;
  • explain why the client made the right choice and why the company, in particular the newsletter, will be valuable;
  • add links to additional content that will help the customer to know you better, for example, links to social networks, an article about the company, etc;
  • make the first offer to the user about cooperation — it should be valuable for the client and contain an explicit benefit, for example, a promo code with a discount on the first purchase;
  • add a prominent and clear call to action, but you don't have to start with something complicated - even an offer to go to the site will be enough;
  • formulate a subject line that speaks to the essence of the email and gets the reader's attention right away.

Users are used to receiving welcome emails after they perform certain actions, so they are always waiting for them and emails have a high Open Rate. Such an email does not only serve as a start of communication with the customer but also serves to confirm that the user has done everything correctly. For example, he/she indicated the correct e-mail address during registration. Therefore, it is desirable that emails come as soon as possible after the target action is performed.
